Our service is guaranteed.  If we make a promise and miss our ship date – the freight’s on us*.  If you need to return any unused product with the original packaging, we’ll take it back and give you full credit for the material.  We’re here to make your job of buying quality instruments easy and hassle free! 

Orders may be placed securely on line using our shopping cart, by Fax to 586-755-3255 or by phone 877-211-0209 or 586-755-3110.

Upon placing an online order, you will receive an automated response that we have received your order.   Shortly thereafter, you will receive an acknowledgement of your order including product availability and ship date, followed by a shipment confirmation with tracking number.  Orders that are received via fax will receive the same acknowledgements sent by fax.

For your convenience, you can order online with your credit card in a safe and secure environment. We accept MasterCard, Visa and American Express. Your credit card will not be charged until your order has shipped.  You can also purchase materials by Check or Money order. If you would like to set up a credit account for purchases, please fill out our account setup form and return it to us. .

We will automatically withhold sales tax for all orders.   If your organization is tax exempt, you are responsible to make sure that we have your exemption certificate(s) on file before placing an online order. To do this, send us a completed account setup form along with your tax exemption information. We are unable to refund sales tax after online order placement
We ship via UPS to anywhere in the United States or Canada.  However, our $9.95 per-order flat rate applies only to destinations within the contiguous United States. Air shipment rates, along with rates for non-contiguous US States and Canada, can be calculated in your shopping cart before checkout.   Contact our Customer Service Department to arrange for shipments to other locations and countries.  Materials can only be shipped Monday through Friday.  Orders for stock material placed by 3:00 PM EST will typically be shipped the same business day. If we cannot ship as promised, we will contact you immediately via E-mail or phone.

We accept returns within 90 days of shipment for all V&I stocked material that is sent back to us unused in the original packaging. Restocking fees may apply depending on the product. If the return is due to our error, we will provide a full refund or replacement including return freight. All special ordered products (nonstocks) will have a restock fee, which will vary depending on the manufacturer's return policy. Some products (like custom metal hoses and liquid-filled gauges) are assembled-to-order and may not be returnable.  Request return authorization by email or call us at 877-476-4896.  Material returned without authorization or after 90 days may be subject to a minimum 10% restocking fee.

All of our products come from reputable manufacturers.  Their product warranties apply.  Contact us to request product warranty information.

Smith Instrument and our Valves & Instruments® division assumes no liability for the use of products that are available or sold on our web site.  Information provided by Smith Instrument and our suppliers is for users to make technically competent product selections.  These products can be applied in a multitude of ways, and it is the sole responsibility of the user to select and apply the appropriate product, and use it in the appropriate way.   Smith Instrument will not be liable for any loss, damage or expenses of any kind arising from the use of our products, the improper use of our products or the inability to use our products.  Please select your products with care.
